Grass-Fed Beef Bone Broth

Prep Time: 10 MIn. - Cook Time: up to 37 hours

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 pounds Breakaway Farms Grass-Fed Beef Bones

  • 1 onion, quartered

  • 2 large carrots, washed & cut in half

  • 2-3 celery stalks, washed & cut in half

  • Other preferred aromatics: bay leaves, garlic, black peppercorns, etc.

  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar

  • Cold water

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Roast the raw bones in a 400 degree oven for an hour.

  • Put the roasted bones, veggies, aromatics and ACV into a crockpot or stock pot and fill with water to cover the bones by about an inch

  • Cover & turn the crockpot on low for 24-36 hours, or bring water to boil in the stock pot and then drop it back to simmer for 24-36 hours (keep the stock pot covered to keep the moisture locked in).

  • Strain the broth & store in the fridge for up to 7 days, in the freezer for 3-6 months, or deep freezer for up to a year. Let the broth come to room temperature before placing it in the freezer. And if storing in glass jars, leave the tops off for 24 hours to freeze to allow for expansion (or you will be very sad to see your cracked jar in a few days!)

This simple recipe is all that’s needed to keep immune-boosting bone broth on hand at all times and makes a great base for soups and stews year-round!
